The Kronish Tikkun Olam Program in memory of, and conceived by, Mr. Herbert Kronish was launched at YCT Rabbinical School in September 2008.

The program was conceived in order to develop students' commitment, knowledge and skills for becoming active partners in addressing problems such as poverty, hunger, human trafficking, slavery and child labor as well as environmental concerns and care for the elderly and handicap. Teaching our students how to fight for social and economic justice is part of YCT’s ongoing mission. The program synthesizes halakha's mandate of taking responsibility not only for the Jewish community but for the world community. The goal is to address issues of social conscience from a halakhic perspective while emphasizing a real world application that brings the idea of Tikkun Olam from the abstract to the here and now.
