Admissions Standards: Beit Midrash - Preparatory Program Year

YCT's Beit Midrash program is a skills-building year for students who are not yet prepared to enter the Rabbinical School. This program focuses heavily on reading Gemara along with the classic rishonim Rashi & Tosafot. In addition to an intense and in depth Gemara curriculum, students are exposed to the breadth of rabbinic literature by studying many chapters of Mishnayot. Tanakh and Machshava are studied along with the rest of the student body. Halakha is taught with a focus on the first third of Orach Chayyim so that familiarity is gained with the majesty of the Halakhik system.

Students who are interested in applying to participate in the Beit Midrash year must have a working knowledge of Hebrew and have the ability to read and translate a passage from the Mishna Berura.

YCT Rabbinical School admits students of any race, color, national origin, or ethnic origin.
