Daniel Atwood

Originally from Teaneck, NJ and currently living in Washington Heights, Daniel is a 4th year rabbinical student at Yeshivat Chovevei Torah. Daniel is currently the Rabbinic Intern at the Bronfman Center for Jewish life at NYU, and has previously served as the Rabbinic Intern at Anshe Sholom B’nai Israel Congregation in Chicago, and completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital. Daniel previously studied in Yeshivat Sha’alvim, and then graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Honors Program at Yeshiva University in 2015, with BAs in Psychology and Medieval Jewish Studies. At YU Daniel served as Senior Opinions Editor and Managing Editor of The Commentator, the official undergraduate newspaper, and was awarded the prestigious Kressel Fellowship for his research in Social Psychology. Passionate about local politics and engaging the Jewish community in local issues, Daniel is an activist and community organizer working on numerous local campaigns. Daniel is particularly engaged in criminal justice reform and LGBTQ inclusion. Daniel also loves exploring New York City and traveling the country, and aspires to build and empower vibrant Jewish communities around the pillars of Torah, spirituality, and justice.
