Setting the standard in rabbinic education

Rachmiel Gurwitz

Hillel Director and Jewish Chaplain, Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA

Rachmiel grew up in San Diego, CA, and from there he has traveled many parts of the world including South America, Europe and Africa. During his four years at YCT, Rachmiel has participated in chaplaincy with Holocaust survivors, worked for Filipino migrant workers’ rights with T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights and built his entrepreneurial repertoire as a fellow with the Office of Innovation at Hillel International. For the past two years, he served as the rabbinic intern at the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at NYU where he facilitated text-based discussions for students from across the Jewish spectrum. He loves learning texts from the mystical tradition, especially the works of Rabbi Nachman and exploring the inner spiritual world. In his free time, you can find him baking bread from scratch or hiking off trail with his wife Joanna and son Azariah. He is thrilled to be joining the growing Jewish community at Muhlenberg College as the Hillel Director and Jewish Chaplain.
